The sculptures, to which THE WELLEM Hotel is dedicating a separate exhibition, are limited edition replicas of the large and mostly extremely well-known originals, authorized by the artists. They provide views of the respective works from perspectives that would otherwise be virtually impossible. Above all, their size alone allows them to be collected by art lovers who would otherwise simply not have the space for them. <\/p>

Alex Katz’s art stands for elegance, clarity and international significance. Ada 1 (Outline) marks an important milestone in his oeuvre. It depicts the profile outline of his wife Ada – muse, model and central figure in his work. Erwin Wurm is considered one of the most successful representatives of contemporary art. The international art portal ArtFacts listed him as the 16th most important artist in the world in 2024 – alongside Warhol, Picasso and Basquiat. G\u00fcnther Uecker, born in 1930 and deceased in 2025, became world-famous for his relief-like nail paintings. As a member of the ZERO artists’ group, he shaped the international avant-garde. His bronze sculpture Long walk to freedom – Homage to Nelson Mandela was created in two versions in 2018 on the initiative of D\u00fcsseldorf art publisher Dirk Geuer. Bernar Venet is considered one of the most important conceptual artists of our time. His works can be found in the most important museums, such as the MoMA and the Guggenheim Museum in New York or the Center Pompidou in Paris. Basic geometric forms are at the heart of his work. While his “Arcs” are based on fragments of circular arcs, he devotes himself to angles in his “Angles”. They have become unmistakable trademarks of contemporary sculpture. On a monumental scale, they characterize important squares and parks worldwide. With 12 Uneven Angles and Collapse: 216.5\u00b0 Arc x 16, Venet succeeds in condensing these principles into a smaller format – compact, powerful and with great aesthetic presence. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Since the early 1980s, Bernar Venet’s often monumental steel sculptures, which are based on circular arc fragments and ring shapes and have a high recognition value, have been an integral part of his work. They can be found in many major European cities in interesting and prominent urban locations, such as the Place d’Armes in Versailles. In Germany, his circular-arc sculptures, in which the line in three-dimensional space is always the central theme, can be found at important locations in the cityscapes of Berlin, Bonn and Koblenz, among others. Mathematical-geometric calculations form the basis for the design of his so-called “Arcs”, which consist of an ensemble of circular arcs shifted against each other. The indication 216.5\u00b0 Arc x 16 <\/em>in the title indicates not only the number of arc fragments but also the degree of the arc section from the full circle. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
